Technology: Microsoft's Ipod killer?

Will Microsoft finially bring the Ipod hype to a hault?

When I first heard that Microsoft was going to bring out a media player, my first thoughts were "WHY THE HECK DID I BUY THAT IPOD VIDEO LAST YEAR!". Honestly to tell you the truth, I just like having the newest and best stuff out so it wasnt really that big of a deal. but then I started thinking. What if they put in some things that I wish the ipod had ......

for example I wish the ipod had a way of sending oddles and oddles of things wireless via Infared, or even Bluetooth? why couldnt the Ipod video have an even bigger screen? like common now, the infamous ipod click wheel is really too big for no reason.everyone has their what ifs when it comes to buying something. Now i start to get mad and here comes big old Microsoft with probally something up their sleeve.. Here commeth the Microsoft Zune which hits stores up here in toronto novemember 18 2006

You can head to the mall and get one a few days from now. Now that the curtan is pulled off of the zune, we find that this MP3, Video, Picture and all player has a bigger screen than the ipod. "DAMN IT!" already im starting to regret that i got an ipod. but now that I take a closer look at the zune and hear reports, the zune "DOES" have a good thing but when you put it in to prespective, what was mircosoft thinking? Their idea of wireless connectivity between units are u can send data like a song for example. BUT.... you have 3 days to play it before it dissapears. beside that!, you can only play that song up to a maximum of something like 3 times as well then it vanishes... is this where the industry is going with their grip on copyright infringement laws? we can get a sample of something but if we like it, we have to go get it our selves?
I dont know how people are going to come across that but maybe this might be a downfall of the Zune. With the ipod now, they just took care of that right from the get go and if you have a song on ur ipod, you cant copy it to another computer when you connect your ipod to a buddies computer for example. that took care of the copyright I can assume.

All the facts are not clear to me yet but im going to best buy in a few hours to get some ipod headphones for my ipod because my stock earphones broke a few months ago and ive been surviving off of my dj headset.... but when I go, ill Play around with the zune and see how it responds...

here are some of the known specifications.

  • Music, up to 14 hours (wireless off), up to 13 hours (wireless on); pictures, up to 4 hours; video, up to 4 hours.
  • the display screen is 3.0 inches and the orientation can be used either vertical or horizontal. the resolution of the screen is 320 x 240 pixels
  • format of audio is Windows media audio standard (.wma) up to 320kbps, MP3 also up to 320kbps, ACC,.MP4, .m4a, .m4b, .mov and all of those are also up to 320kbps.
  • pictures can be views as JPEG (.jpg) format: and all of the resolutions will be automatically converted to 640 x 480 by the Zune at sync time
  • videos are played usinf the windows media video (.wmv) format. thats the main profile. up to 1.4 Mbps @ 320 x 2 40 pixels. at 30 frames per second in stereo audio.
  • wireless will use a 820.11 b/g connectivity with a reange of up to 30 feet
  • as of right now the only language is english

until I return go read up on something else and stop wasting your time waiting on here. check back later for an update

    -Bernard

--Update--

went to the best buy today but they didnt have a demo out on display to fiddle around with. but interestingly enougoh they said that they dont expect the zune to arrive in stores untill the 21st? thats odd considering he said that the release date is the 18th.

make sure to check back and I will keep everything posted.

The other day I found out that there was a possibility that a taekwondo video game in the works. When I first saw it i didnt know to believe it or take this with a grain of salt.

So I contacted gamespot to see if they can investigate since its their job. I posted the question on their forums.
A few weeks went buy and no reply but then I check my PM inbox and i got a message from the co developer of the game Mohammad Chrishti. I wasnt expecting that I just wanted a reply from gamespot just to see if this game is going to be reality. but enough of that and on to what the message said

Subject: Taekwondo World Champion
Hello,I am the co-developer of Taekwondo World Champion. Yes, it is a real game, scheduled for U.S. release in late January, 2007 (we're delayed from the original Fall 06 launch). We're in the final stages of development and early beta stage right now.If you have any specific questions, feel free to e-mail me... soon, our website will get some much needed updates and before the end of 2006, we will officially announce the game and the release date. We have been so busy making the game, we haven't done a lot to promote it. In fact, all we did was hand out about 250 promotional cards, and the word seems to be spreading pretty quickly!

Thanks,Muhammad
xmailto:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@game-slingers.com

the above email address has been left out so he dosnt get spammed.

So it looks like this game is going to be reality after all. It will be interesting to see how this game turns out.

Until then I guess all we can do is watch matches off of the internet of people or dvds and or tapes.

if I get any more info ill let you know.

Bernard.

Taekwondo, Sports: Ontario Taekwondo Classic

my taekwondo club hosted our 23 annual taekwondo tournement the " Ontario classic"

Variety Village hosts Ontario taekwondo championship
New tradition will include competition for special needs athletes
Close to a thousand world class special needs and able-bodied athletes from across North America are expected in the south end of Scarborough this weekend to kick off the 23rd Ontario Classic Tae Kwon Do championships.
Variety Village, the largest sports training and fitness centre for youths with special needs in North America, will host the Ontario Tae Kwon Do Association (OTA)-sanctioned event for the first time, in coordination with Tae Kwon Do Grand Master Young Su Choung, an eighth-degree black belt and one of the world's most respected martial artists.

The two-day event consists of two divisions: the sparring and the patterns or forms portion. The club's special needs colour belts athletes will compete in the forms portion of the tournament with a smaller contingent of black belts competing in the sparring segment.
The event's transition from its former Etobicoke site at Humber College to its new location at Variety Village marks the beginning of a new tradition for the annual competition, says Chris Murdoch, the head coach of the Scarborough site of Young Choung's Tae Kwon Do Academy. The academy, which has seven off-site clubs across the city, is headquartered in the west end at Bathurst and St. Clair and has run programs out of the Village for 16 years now, something Murdoch says speaks volumes about the commitment Master Choung has shown toward encouraging athletes with special needs to participate in the art.
The club's Coach of the Year recipient this year, Murdoch expects the annual event to quickly take hold here.

"We're actually quite excited about this," she said, of the new rite, adding that the club now takes in 120 members. "We've been working with Master Choung for years, helping run this event at other sites, and we knew we were now ready to showcase what the club has to offer," she said. "It will be the first of many (events), that's for sure."
For some, the meet is a precondition for further national and international competition, while for others it's simply an occasion to test their taekwondo mettle.
"Because, as with any martial art, you can train and compete within the four walls of your club, but the best way to truly get better is to compete against others," she noted.
Variety Village, which historically has been the only taekwondo club to include special needs kids, will field 14 of the 17 disabled entrants this year. The club, located at 3701 Danforth Ave., is also the first to incorporate a unique forms component to its martial art program. "We're the only club that teaches students in wheelchairs, we have set forms for them as well," Murdoch said.
The international governing body for taekwondo, the World Tae Kwon Do Federation, was successful in seeing the sport included as an Olympic sport recently. Organizers are now working on seeing high-level special needs athletes compete on the world stage. "And with that in mind, our goal is to get these athletes ready for them (the Paralympics)," the coach said.

"It is on the horizon actually," she said, citing just how close the process has come to fruition. "And now, other clubs are aware of that, and are now looking at training these athletes so they can be a part of that adventure as well," she said. The event, which features Junior A (born 1989-92), Junior B (born 1993-95) and Junior C (born in 1996 and after), starts Saturday morning at 9:30 and runs until approximately 7:30 p.m. and will continue again Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and will run until around noon.

VideoGaming: Nintendo's Wii to have a dvd player in the after all?

It seems that Nintendos Wii is going to have a better second generation. it appears that nintendo enthusiests will get their wii's with dvd play back capabilities. there are only 2 punchlines.
one punch is that your going to have to wait untill the second wave of Wii's are built.
the second punch is that as of now it seems that this dvd play back wii will only be avaliable to japan. looks like all the Nintendo fiends that want to have a wii that can play back dvd will have to head to EBAY to get this one when it comes out..
but then agian why would people want to go out and buy another Wii just for dvd play back? so far it looks like nintendo is haveing a good run with this new gen system i hope someting like this will not kill the giant game and consol maker just because there is 2 versions of the wii but comming out a year apart.
thats just my thoughts. what are yours?
